Ben Depuy Jr. Alternate Birth date

In the Pension Records of the Revolutionary Soldiers, Benjamin reports that his birth date is Dec 29, 1764.

Church records in Rochester, show that Benjamin was christened 2 Nov 1758. I have tried to figure out the discrepancy on birth dates, but have not discovered any clues.

This would be the Benjamin DePuy, Jr from the Fort DePuy 1 mile south of Ft. DeWitt in Cuddebackville, NY. Benjamin Jr. is my 1st cousin 4x removed. That particular Fort DePuy was attacked and burned by the Tories and indians led by one named Brandt during the revolution. Fort DePuy was re-built by Benjamin after the war. (Ben Jr is listed as E-179 in the DePuy Family history) The Benjamin (C-18) that went with his brother Nicholas (C-12) was baptized 13 Oct 1695 Kingston, NY RDC sponsors Evert Wynkoop and Geertje Elvendorp. C-18 and C-12 are my 4th Great Grand Uncle with their father Moses, Sr. being my 5th Great Grandfather.

Benjamins (C-18) house was burned during the French and Indian wars and re-built. Benjamins brother Nicholas (C-12) and nephew Samuel along with their families who remained at home were protected by Fort DePuy. This particular Fort was one of a chain of frontier fortifications for which Benjamin Franklin had responsibility. Daniel, son of Nicholas, whose farmm was distant from the Fort, escaped a party of 60 raiding indians who burned his hous and barns; he and his family fled to Fort Van Campen in Pahaquarry on the Jersey side of the Del. Benjamins two sons had earlier crossed the river; John in 1749 and Benjamin II in 1755. Benjamin (C-18) son Benjamin, Jr. (D-71) was a commissary during the Revolution and has too colorful and extensive history to detail here. D-71 is my 1st cousin 5x removed and references and other history cand be inquired E-Mail kevincoreyd@yahoo.com
